Synopsis
A generational story about families and the special place they inhabit, about love, loss, laughter and sharing life… It first appeared as a strip in the comic book magazine "Raw" in 1989 and then expanded into a 300-page comic book in 2014. At one point in the film, Richard’s father names several towns that he says are along the Pennsylvania Turnpike, when in fact they are all towns along Interstate 80 in PA, which had not yet been built.. [from the trailer] Richard: You know, if you like, you can spend the rest of the night here.Margaret: I could spend the rest of my life here..

We then follow ~5 families at different times and their lives in the living room
‘Here’ is the fifth film directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Tom Hanks, and while it’s not a 2.5-hour, three-decade epic like ‘Forrest Gump,’ it somehow spans 65 million years. This is done through the cinematic trick of a single camera focusing on the living room of an early 19th-century house (presumably in New Jersey, USA), which includes a few glimpses of what happened there on that land before the house was built, including a Native American tribe. It’s not all linear, but it’s not too confusing either, as the main story follows Al (Bettany) and Rose (Reilly) buying the house after World War II. There they raise their 4 children, Richard (Hanks) is played by an aging/Big-era Hanks around 16.
The editing is sometimes good, but often unnecessarily annoying
He then meets the aging Margaret (Wright) and we follow them as they age in the house over the decades. There are some beautiful moments, some funny ones and some sad ones. Even though it’s a relatively short film, it probably didn’t need at least 2 of these storylines! It tries to depict the little moments in life that add up to create the human experience.

It gets close, but because of the jumping around, you don’t get too attached to anyone, so the humor is lost.
